Simone Giuliani is a music producer, keyboard player, film composer, string arranger and music director living in Manhattan, New York. He was born in Florence, Italy.
Simone has worked for the past two decades with an array of international artists: Beyoncé, DJ Logic, Wu Tang Clan, Cibo Matto, Nels Cline, Bebel Gilberto, Groove Collective, Jovanotti, Monday Michiru, Jamie Catto (The Happening, Faithless, 1 Giant Leap), Toshiko Akiyoshi & Lew Tabackin, Suzie Katayama (Prince, Madonna, Beck), Natalie Williams (Incognito), Cevin Fisher, Renaud-Gabriel Pion (Antony & The Johnsons, Björk), Lévon Minassian (Peter Gabriel, Sting) and many more.
He wrote original music for Spike Lee, the TV series ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation‘, ‘True Blood‘, the theme of CBS News for Logo/VH1 and Volkswagen. He recently composed the soundtrack of ‘Reject‘, directed by Ruth Thomas and produced by Kurt Engfehr (producer of Bowling for Columbine and Farenheit 911 by Michael Moore), A Raisin in the Sun featuring P. Diddy and John Stamos, nominated for a Golden Globe Award and the Italian film Muro di Carta, commissioned by the Italian Minister of Culture. You can also hear his music in the movie ‘Beyond Ipanema‘ with David Byrne, M.I.A. and Devendra Banhart.
With Guilherme Monteiro (Forro in the Dark, Ron Carter) he wrote the music for “Toxic: Amazon“, the acclaimed film about the deforestation in the Amazon that premiered at Brazilian National Congress in May 2012.
His own electronic music project called Lazybatusu has appeared in more than 300 compilations worldwide including Café del Mar, Supperclub, Hed Kandi, MTV Best of Lounge, Glucklich V and many others, with sales of over 4 million units to date.
Since 2008 he has been joining forces with Grammy Award-winner producer Jason Olaine for Monterey Jazz Festival Records and Concord Music Group, working on rare live recordings of Miles Davis Quintet, Dave Brubeck, Sarah Vaughan, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong and Tito Puente among others.
He is founder of the digital label Emunity Records and a contributing author to the book The Spiritual Significance of Music, published by Xtreme Music (New Zealand, 2011).
Simone Giuliani is a member of the Executive Board and Director of Music Programs of MoMENT NYC (Museum of Music & Entertainment of new York City) and its parallel non-profit music education program founded by Genji Siraisi of Groove Collective
